We use 1Password to keep all our passwords and sensitive information safe. This keeps the data safe, but also available across a wide range of devices.
As we test 1Password for our use case, only Isabella, Mikaela, Verena, and Jon have access. If you'd like to join in on the fun, reach out to Jon Yergatian.
By default, everyone has access to 2 different Vaults:
Private: Use this vault for passwords that don't need to be shared with the rest of the team
Shared: This is the vault for passwords and information for the whole team
By creating a unique password for each online service, we eliminate to possibility of one compromised password granting access to several services. 1Password has a convenient tool to create passwords at will — use it!
We always enable 2-step verification whenever possible. The one-time password (OTP) can be stored and found within 1Password, making 2-step verification a realistic option for an entire team.
Thanks to 1Password, security questions and birthdates can be arbitrary since we're able to record those details within 1Password and refer back to them when needed. You'll find many of our recorded answers don't even make sense when compared to their respective security questions.
With the 1Password app and Chrome extension installed, entering a username and password on a website will result in a 1Password pop up asking if you want to save the login. If there are additional security measures (such as security questions), be sure to include them in the notes section.
1Password includes an ability to securly (and temporarily) share a set of credentials. Although it’s rare we need to use this feature, it is a valuable feature if the situation ever arises.
