As soon as you know you need a sub (whether sick or taking time off), let April know and reach out directly to subs. Text messaging is best for short notice, and the Sub thread on Twist works when there is more time. Note that subs outside our organization will not be on the Twist thread.
When a sub is confirmed, let April know, and April will update the Sub Tracking document to reflect who will be paid additionally for the day.
Provide the sub with the group's med sheet (a photo works), any information to note about the group, and some suggestions for activities. If you are the lead instructor that day, it is best to have another instructor the parents know take that role.
Check-in with the sub to find out how the day went.
The team is in agreement about unlimited sick days, so there will be no change in pay or deductions from the set salary amount.
While a vacation pay rate is not given in any contracts, all are paid consistently over the four weeks of vacation when Soaring Eagle does not have programs running. Those dates can be viewed on the SENS Google Calendar. However, those working Spring Break camps will be paid additionally for that time.
If there are vacation requests for time outside of those dates, it is expected to clear it with the program team you are part of, let Mikaela know, and get the dates covered.
Ideally, there would be no pay deductions for anyone requiring additional dates off, but the day can be made up by subbing for someone else without additional pay to pay it forward.
Internal subs are paid a day rate of $240, regardless of hours or program. External subs are paid hourly at $24 per hour.
